Artemea: (Greek) from Artemis.... Artemis was known in Greek mythology as the Goddess and protectress of the forest. She is often depicted as running through the forest with a bow and arrow and her love of animals is legendary. In Roman mythology, she assumed the name Diana. She is often associated with Selene, the Goddess of the Moon. According to mythology, Selene became enraptured with a gorgeous youth, named Endymion, and kept him eternally youthful by casting a spell on him whereupon he always slept under her cool gaze. We have named our cattery after Artemis, and our first Black and White Maine Coon....Rider...is officially known as Artemea Endymion the Midnite Rider.... |
